PROPOSED BYLAWS CHANGE

Current bylaws prescribe that "Any officer or board member who is absent from three (3) consecutive regular board meetings without an excuse shall be terminated. A motion was made to remove the words "without an excuse".

As required, this motion is now posted for 30 days before the members can vote on this.

This motion will be acted upon during Unfinished Business at the next regular meeting to be held on Saturday, March 13th, 2010.
CANASTA!

20 ladies had fun playing Canasta on Saturday, January 29th. Among the winners were Roz Grant, Margie Gompers, Alice Brand, Marcia Cohen, Rachel Rivera, and Syndey Beckman. The next tournament will be on Saturday, May 29th. For more information, contact Marge Solomon.

MEMORIAL DAY PICNIC

The Memorial Day Picnic will be held on Saturday, May 29th at 5:00 pm right after our Canasta tournament.

We will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, turkey burgers, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, potato chips, baked beans, and homemade desserts. The best part is: you can eat as much as you want!

Cost is $8.00 per member, $11.00 per non-member (prepay). At door, add $2.00. Price includes one bottle of water or a can of soda.

"GERALD" MOVIE

If you missed the show date on Sunday, January 3rd in Lake Worth, then you may want to look forward to the future showing coming up in Cooper City, FL on Saturday, April 10, 2010.  The film will be shown at Schott Communities, 6591 S. Flamingo Road, Cooper City, Fl 33330.

Mike Bove
MICHAEL J. BOVE, 93, died Jan.9 at Heartland Hospice in Wilmington, Delware.  Born and reared in Newark, NJ, he lived Valley View for the past 4 years.  He previously resided in Margate, FL for over 20 years.  He graduated from Katzenbach School for the Deaf in 1936.  He was a member of NAD, NJAD, and BCAD.  Mike worked as a printer for over 25 years.  He was the widower of Fannie V. Lapadura Bove.  He was survived by his daughter, Linda Bove of Studio City, CA ; son, Michael V. Bove Jr of Bethel; and 3 grandchildren.

IT'S TIME TO PAY YOUR DUES!

BCAD's membership secretary, Aurora Solomon, said she is now accepting payments for dues for 2010. Members can pay her anytime between now until the end of February. Dues for active members is $40 for one year.

2010 DEAFNATION EXPO

DeafNation Expo is coming to Tampa on Saturday, February 20th!It will be held in the Tampa Convention Center from 9 am to 6 pm.

Admission is free! But you must register on-line for free admission.  For registration information, see their website at DeafNation.com


First Annual Deaf Poker Event

BCAD will host its first annual poker event for the deaf on March 6, 2010 and will be limited to 90 players. To see the flyer, click here!

A $25 registration fee paid in advance is required.

GFTLAD

The Greater Ft. Lauderdale Association of the Deaf will be celebrating St. Patrick's on Saturday, March 20th at BCAD clubhouse.

Door opens at 6pm. 

Texas Hold'Em Poker begins at 7pm. and Dingo starts at 9pm..

Admission is $3.00 to benefit the Senior Citizens Golf Tournament 2011.

BYLAWS CHANGED TO REFLECT NEW MEETING DATES

Beginning January 2010, the Board of Governors will have their meeting every two months on the 2nd Saturday of the month before regular meetings. 

The January meeting will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 23rd.

The next Board meeting will be held on March 13th before the regular meeting.

CENTER FOR HEARING
AND COMMUNCATION


CHC provides a Health Lecture Series every month in ASL at the Tamarac Community Center.

Everyone is welcomed.  Admission is free.  There will be refreshments.

Energy Conservation will be the topic for Monday, March 1, 2010 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm.
